Art Stamps – What’s The Simplest Way To Clean Them Up?

Stamping is a craft that is growing very popular these days. The stamps come in a variety of designs, some more intricate than others. These stamps become filled with ink that needs to be cleaned regularly to avoid breakdown of the stamp.

One of the easiest and least expensive cleaning methods for a dirty stamp, is to use plain old soap and water. Soaking the stamp in some warm, soapy water, can help to loosen dried-on ink and make the cleaning process much easier. Once the stamp has soaked properly, you can take a sponge or soft cloth and gently remove any leftover ink residue.

Another method that is popular, is to use a baby wipe. This is a handy method if you are using your stamp with multiple colors during a stamping session. The wipe can be used to quickly remove traces of one color of ink before it is placed onto another pad. This helps to prevent contamination of ink colors. This method is primarily meant as a quick-clean method for in-between deep cleanings.

There are also special cleaners that you can purchase that are solely made for stamp cleaning. These types of cleaners normally have a sponge applicator tip that releases the cleaner and allows for scrubbing of the stamp surface. They can be purchased at almost any craft supply store.

Stamps are an important investment in your craft supply arsenal, so it is important to make sure that you keep them cleaned and properly cared for!
